Quick post. I haven't been here for….well, it's been a while. Will try to do better.
Today, I have to rant. Part grammar/spelling and part weaving "newbies". First, it's WEAVE, WOVE, WOVEN, dammit. I want to barf every time someone says "I WEAVED something." (Even worse is "I loomed something, but that's another issue.) Aurrgghh. Second, I see weaving going through the same thing that knitting and spinning went through. It's in. It's hot. Everyone wants to do it. Oy.
I have nothing against new weavers who DO THEIR HOMEWORK. Read a damn book. Take a class for Pete's sake. It is not my job to teach you how to weave from square one! I did that already, by myself. If one more "noob" signs onto a FB group and says "I just bought a loom weaver thing with eight peddles and have no idea what anything means, show me…." I'm going to unjoin. Or whatever the word is.
I have nothing against new weavers, really. God bless them. A few years ago I was one. But, I've put the time in to learn the basics, and I joined several of these groups to get inspired, not to babysit. It seems that the "newbie" posts increase on a daily basis, to the exclusion of posts from more experienced weavers.
Rant over. It's my blog and I don't care if this gets anyone's shorts in a bunch. (Hardly anyone reads it, anyway.)
